Summertime Sole & Soul Food
What does Summertime “Sole food” and “Soul food” conger up for you? Bountiful foods such as Avocados-Blueberries- Melons-Passion Fruit and Strawberries? How about summertime pedicures of your piggies reading for sandals? Try wearing Dr. Taryn Rose shoes. I discovered them myself only a few years ago - out of necessity!
Her designs of shoes are of luxury shoes- affordable, fashionable and functional. Goodbye pain factor!
She sells in many stores, and if your lucky- you score at a Nordstrom Rak where mine are from. Anyhow, while trying on my fave sandals by Dr. Rose, and after purveying the outcome, I thought- these feet need some Sole food help! So what is Sole food for your feet? Yes.. getting to it.
Try this invigorating cool lemon-mint foot bath- courtesy of Dr. Rose, it invigorates your feet!
This is a refreshing end to a long hard day of being on your feet. The mint is natural refrigerant which works to calm irritated muscle fibers. The astringent lemon can actually brighten your toenails. Take pleasure in sliding your feet over the smooth rocks while inhaling the revitalizing scent of fresh mint leaves and lemon slices. This will get you ready to wear some "Heels that heel"! As she says, “ Three inch heels just plain hurt…”
Here's what you do:
Lemon-Mint Sole Food Footbath
1. Cover the bottom of a basin (large enough to house both of your feet) with flat smooth stones.
2. Fill the basin with lukewarm water.
3. Add three to four drops of peppermint oil for every half-gallon of water. Swirl the water with your hand to distribute the oil evenly.
4. Slice one whole lemon and drop the slices into the water.
5. Grab two handfuls of fresh peppermint or spearmint leaves, gently rub them together to release their natural oils, and add them to the bath.
6. Slide your feet into the basin. Deeply breathe in the lemon-mint aroma while massaging your feet over the stones or colored for at least four minutes

And the Soul food commonality is? Ready?????
The common denominator is comfort, period.
Find the comfort level in your shoes and in your own soulful being!
The sole food "foot" bath after a long day, helps you feel replenished, revived, rejuvenated, re-invigorated and doing the happy feet dance, like Mr. Penguin who does the Happy Feet dance.
Soul food is the necessary nourishment of your "soul". This does not have to happen at days end; it works for when you can fit it in- when setting forth intentions. Awaken before your world starts calling you. Soul food nourishment is best taken as prescribed “during the quiet time-be it the midnight hours, or early morning hours,” the hours of graceful splendor" with the world full asleep or slow awakening. Tucked into those few stolen moments when one is able to take time for centering, praying, asking, and facing the next day's trials.
Name: True Soul food.
How Prescribed: Daily.
How Often: As often as necessary.
Refills: Infinitely.
And I will end on a tribute.. Walt Whitman's birthday. We must all remember those before us, those amongust us and those who we love and who loves you.

A Clear Midnight
This is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson
done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the
themes thou lovest best,
Night, sleep, death and the stars. Walt Whitman May 31, 1819-March 26, 1892
Namaste.

I love avocados and berries and juicy tomatoes too!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who had foot surgery this past year, I agree - foot comfort is where it's at! :)
My goodness!! Hope your feet are happy now! Love Birkenstock for summer too. Reserve those high heels now for when being valet parked! Enjoy the splendor of June's first weekend away!
